Ashwini Nayak, MD
Ashwini is a physician board certified in internal medicine. She is also certified as a life and weight coach by The Life Coach School.
After obtaining her medical degree in her home state at Albany Medical College, she completed her internal medicine residency at University Hospitals of Cleveland in Ohio within the Center of Excellence in Primary Care at the Louis Stokes Cleveland Veterans’ Affairs (VA) Medical Center. During her primary care training, she discovered her interest in understanding and improving systems and processes while completing Six Sigma Yellow Belt training. During medical school, she was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Her connection and devotion to her patients was again recognized when she received the Norman Gordon Humanism Award in 2015 at the completion of her residency. Between 2015-2020, motivated to create supportive relationships and prevent chronic disease development, she practiced as a primary care physician. Her areas of interest included improving health literacy, promoting lasting health behavior change, and women’s health.
Ashwini is passionate about helping people think better, in part by becoming aware of thought patterns and biases. In doing so, she guides them to make better decisions for themselves and to take consistent action toward desired results, all while improving emotional management and resiliency. Her vision is that each individual she works with can choose to be an example to others; they can demonstrate how balanced views of the world can lead to personal success and increased peace, both within themselves and in the world. Her coaching practice focuses on personalized one-on-one coaching for individuals who want to achieve career fulfillment and create a meaningful impact in healthcare and beyond. Her clients are highly motivated and committed to personal development. In her effort to reach members in her profession and community, she gives workshops and small-group coaching sessions, both in virtual and live formats. She has presented talks on improving career satisfaction, and the impact of narrative on the physician experience. She most recently presented at the Physician Moms Group conference in San Antonio, TX, where she spoke about time management for busy physician moms.
Ashwini graduated from McGill University in Montreal where she earned a Bachelor of Science. Due to her interest in medicine and desire to understand the human condition of her patients, she majored in biochemistry and minored in world religions.
